Sandhills Showcases Plans for Emergency Services Facility
The facility will be built on Niagara-Carthage Road beside the Carthage Fabrics building. It will be a multi-building, multi-use training facility. Representatives from the various departments gathered to hear plans for a new emergency services training facility planned for the site. Conception of the facility began approximately ten years ago, and construction of the first phase is set to begin this fall. A second phase, which is dependant on passage of the Bond Issue on November 6, will extend the training capabilities offered to local fire, rescue and law enforcement units.
"This facility is greatly needed in Moore County," said Floyd Fritz, Deputy Fire Chief of Pinehurst. "In order to train, we are forced to do so out of the county and use other facilities. This will increase the professionalism and pride of all emergency services and will, most importantly, provide greater safety and service to all of Moore County. I encourage all residents to vote in favor of funding our county facility needs on November 6 so the remainder of this training facility can be built."
